OXFORD, Miss, Dec. 8, 2022 - UM's Center for Insurance Transformation (CIT) is launching a new certificate program that will provide experience, training, & industry networking for students from historically Black colleges and universities in Mississippi.
This new program is set to kick off in the upcoming fall semester of 2023. It's fueled by the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) and several insurance industry leaders. Ross & Yerger isn't just a founding partner of the CIT, it was the very first organization to sign this initiative.
"This is important work not only for us at Ross & Yerger, but also for the entire state of Mississippi," - Dudley Wooley, CEO / COO. "This initiative will raise awareness about careers in insurance and diversify the talent pool. We want our workforce to better reflect our community, and the work of the CIT will help us all achieve that goal."
In addition to financing the program's launch, stakeholders and participating firms are also recruiting students while providing mentorships and paid internships. The opportunities and experience gleaned by students from this initiative wouldn't just transform the insurance industry, it could change lives.
